Y es muy natural; en el Libro Secreto está escrito: Los árboles son los seres vivos de mayor tamaño que existen, mayores que la mayor de las ballenas: las secuoyas, los árboles más altos del mundo, alcanzan alturas superiores a los 80 metros y diámetro de más de 20 metros. Pero ésto no es todo. Los árboles son también los seres vivos (incluídos los gnomos) de más larga vida. Hay secuoyas gigantes que han vivido 3000 años, y no parece que ésta sea una cifra récord. A pesar de su tamaño y de su peso, sus semillas son tan pequeñas que se necesitan unas 3000 para que en la balanza lleguen a los 10 gramos. Es, pues, muy natural que los gnomos admiren, respeten y cuiden a los árboles.
